  1. Saute bacon in heavy pot.
  2. Add cabbage, onion, celery, carrots, potato and zucchini; reduce heat and simmer about 20 minutes.
  3. Add tomatoes, beef broth, barley, and rice; simmer 2 hours.
  4. Blend in white sauce, vinegar, garlic, caraway seed, salt, worcestershire, and thyme.
  5. Simmer about 15 minutes.
  6. Adjust seasonings if necessary.
  7. Garnish with sour cream and serve.

This was wonderful. I made it for my niece, who is always talking about the sour cream soup her grandmother makes. This was very diffrent than her grandmothers, however, every drop was gone. I made it exactly as posted and served it with the ultimate grilled cheese #13584.
