  • Saute onions in butter.
  • add cut up cabbage and vinegar.
  • cover and simmer for about 20 to 25 minutes.
  • add just enough sugar to make it sweet and sour tasting.
  • add apples and reheat.

  1. Nice basic recipe. Very easy to make and quite good. Added a little garlic. Also added a little water to cook the cabbage. Used cider vinegar instead of white. Plan on making this often! Thanks!!
     
  2. Very yummy! I have always loved Rotkohl, there's just something about that sweet and sour taste:) Next time I will add a little more Vinegar for just al little more zing !!! Thanks for the great recipe.
     
  3. This is a wonderful and simple recipe with a mild sweet/sour flavour. I used 1 Tbsp of granular Splenda and 1 Tbsp of brown sugar. Along with the sweetness from the apple it was plenty for me. Next time I'll use the full two apples. I simmered the cabbage and apple together for an hour. Thank you for a good and easy recipe!
