Directions

  1. Saute onions in butter.
  2. add cut up cabbage and vinegar.
  3. cover and simmer for about 20 to 25 minutes.
  4. add just enough sugar to make it sweet and sour tasting.
  5. add apples and reheat.

Nice basic recipe. Very easy to make and quite good. Added a little garlic. Also added a little water to cook the cabbage. Used cider vinegar instead of white. Plan on making this often! Thanks!!

Very yummy! I have always loved Rotkohl, there's just something about that sweet and sour taste:) Next time I will add a little more Vinegar for just al little more zing !!! Thanks for the great recipe.

This is a wonderful and simple recipe with a mild sweet/sour flavour. I used 1 Tbsp of granular Splenda and 1 Tbsp of brown sugar. Along with the sweetness from the apple it was plenty for me. Next time I'll use the full two apples. I simmered the cabbage and apple together for an hour. Thank you for a good and easy recipe!
