An easy and cheap dinner. Put it all in the crock in the morning and go about your day. Serve by itself, or for a more filling dinner, on top of rice.
- 1 lb ground turkey, browned
- 2 large potatoes, sliced 1/4 inch thick
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 teaspoons garlic salt
- 1 1⁄2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1 1⁄2 teaspoons white wine
- 2 teaspoons lea and perrins steak sauce
- 1 (10 ounce) can cream of mushroom soup
- 1⁄2 cup beef broth
- Put potatoes on bottom and sides of crock.
- Then add turkey, onion, and garlic salt.
- Then add soup and other wet ingredients.
- Cook on low for 7-9 hours, or high 4-6 hours.

Wonderful. Very inexpensive and very easy. I tend to add lots of 'extras' to recipes (such as carrots, celery and lots more garlic and spices), but I didn't for this and it was very flavorful. It was like eating a thick stew. I did use extra-lean beef, browned it w/the onion (and yes, a little minced garlic). This was done on low and was more than ready to eat after 5 hours. Served it w/sides of steamed broccoli and peas. Thanks.
This dinner was just okay for my family. I followed the recipe exactly and cooked on High for one hour, then on Low for 3 hours and the potatoes were fairly mushy, but still tasted good. The soup mixture wound up very watery (like I feared) instead of saucy (like I hoped), and I had to add some cornstarch to thicken it. I think the biggest complaint was that it was too bland and that it just tasted like the typical "cream of whatever" soup meal. My husband did say that he wouldn't mind me making this again as long as I added some spices and other flavors. While we didn't fully enjoy it as a stand alone dinner, I think that it is a great base recipe that you can use to build other great meals. I also love the cost factor. The cost for the entire crock pot full was around $4.00 since I had most of the stuff on hand to begin with. I think next time I make it, I will add garlic (instead of garlic salt), some Marsala wine and fresh mushrooms and see what happens.
