Crazy Chocolate Cake

"Recipe came from husband's grandmother who has now passed away."

• Yields: cake

ingredients

• 4 tablespoons cocoa
• 1⁄2 cup butter or 1/2 cup margarine
• 1 cup sugar
• 1 1⁄2 cups sifted flour
• 1 egg
• 1⁄2 teaspoon baking soda
• 1 teaspoon salt
• 1 teaspoon baking powder
• 1⁄2 cup milk
• 1⁄2 cup boiling water

directions

1. Grease and flour 8 inch square cake pan.
2. Put all ingredients except 1/2 cup boiling water in a large bowl.
3. Pour 1/2 cup of boiling water over above ingredients and beat about 2 minutes with electric mixer.
4. Pour into baking pan.
5. Spread evenly.
6. Bake at 350 degrees for 40 minutes.

Thanks for a very good cake recipe. I loved the fact that it was easy to make and it worked perfectly. Baking time was right on and it filled the pan just right. I also like the size of this cake. We are a family of 3 so it's just right for 2 desserts. I frosted it with my posted recipe for cream cheese frosting and added 2 Tblsp. of cocoa powder. Thanks again for a real keeper!
