A tasty pilaf to make in the microwave.

  1. In a microwave-safe bowl, combine oil, butter, onion, scallions and gingerroot and microwave at high power for 2 minutes, or until onion is softened.
  2. Stir in rice to coat with oil and butter, add broth and microwave, covered with plastic wrap at high for 5 minutes.
  3. Microwave at medium power (50%) for 12-15 minutes, or until all liquid is absorbed and rice is tender.
  4. Uncover and stir in snow peas.
  5. Let stand, covered, for 5 minutes and stir in sesame seeds.

Made this on the stove top but otherwise followed the recipe. It was good but the sesame oil was a bit too intense for me. Next time I'll use more butter and less oil. Loved the snow peas in the rice!

I made this for *Zaar World Tour III* - I made this on the stove top, I followed the recipe however used longer cooking times. It was delicious, great change from steam rice. Thank you evelyn/athens

I loved that this was made in one glass bowl in the microwave! I really liked this recipe - the snow peas did add a nice crunch. My family thought the sesame oil taste was a bit strong though so will cut back on that next time.
