I did try really hard to find party rye bread (checked 3 stores in the NY/metro area) but did not find them. It's a real shame, because they seem like part of my childhood. Well, anyway, I made these on regular seeded rye bread and was very pleased with the way they came out. There was enough to cover 3 slices, and we really enjoyed this with a salad for dinner. I used low fat cheese and a low fat oil based mayonnaise. Kid-friendly but appreciated by adults as well.
