Creamed Peas With Mushrooms and Onions.

Yummy side dish. I love peas! Use low fat milk for a lighter sauce or half and half for a richer sauce. I usually use what I have on hand. Sometimes I add a small handful of swiss cheese and a small handful of grated parmesean cheese to make it even yummier! I also find canned mushrooms work well in this if you are not against all things canned :) This is from southern cooking.

Perfect combination of goodness all wrapped up into one dish, seriously, couldn't be easier, or more yummy! I used whole milk and a mixture of homemade chicken broth. Fresh mushrooms graced this dish, as well as little white pearl onions. I am beyond happiness with peas, and this didn't let me down. Lovely presentation and great recipe!   1. Melt butter over medium-low heat.
  2. Add the mushrooms and onions and saute, stirring, until mushrooms are golden and onions are tender.
  3. Stir in flour until well blended.
  4. Add the chicken broth and milk.
  5. Cook, stirring, until thickened. Add the hot cooked and drained peas and seasonings.
