"This is oatmeal boiled in chai tea and flavored with honey. You could even substitute the chai teabag for your own favorite tea."

  1. This is a different and tasty oatmeal! The chai provided a nice flavor and using honey for the sweetener was a good match. Enjoyed this breakfast - thanks for posting the recipe! Made for the Comfort Cafe Event, January 2010

  2. I tried this both with chai and some other teas. I liked the vanilla almond and green tea versions better than the chai, though they are definitely more subtle. It opens the door to try all kinds of other teas in your oatmeal. It is a nice change to have some differrent flavors in there.

  3. This was a great idea, however it was not as superb as I was hoping it would be. On that note, I will probably make it again sometime though for a change of oatmeal pace. I used Trader Joe's Chai Mix and I did not need any honey (I did try it on a spoonful and did not care for the honey-chai-oatmeal taste). I also like my oatmeal very, very thick so I used 1/4 c milk, 1/4 c water, 1/2 portion Chai mix to the 1/2 c oatmeal, but the recipe portions are spot-on typical liquid to oatmeal ratios. Thanks very much for the basic concept - I would also like to experiment with other flavored teas as a way to flavor my oatmeal and I hadn't thought of this idea on my own! Thank you.

  4. Good oatmeal, the only thing I did different was to use Starbucks Chai Tea mix instead of the bags. I also didn't need to add any honey. Very nice. I think next time I will add raisins. Thanks for posting.

  5. My son and I are trying out some of the oatmeal recipes here since we absolutely love oatmeal. I thought the taste of Chai sounded like a natural combo with Oatmeal. Either I did it wrong, or the combo just didn't work for our taste buds. It sounded so promising. :-(
