  1. This is a wonderful comfort food dish, I used 3 apples and 2 teaspoons cinnamon, make certain to cool and squeeze out the excess moisture in the cabbage, we loved this, thanks for sharing hon!...Kitten:)

  3. I agree even people that don't like cabbage will love this recipe. I cut the recipe back to two servings, shredded the cabbage did not precook it. I had one 1 1/2" layer of cabbage and two small apples followed the recipe baked covered for 35 minutes. I will make this again thanks for posting mickeydownunder

  4. Mickey, after having seen Deb's wonderful photo and reading the recipe, I made this tonight. It went with chicken kebabs in a lemon-pepper sauce, and I also wrapped the the kebabs in bacon. We had peas with it, and 2-minute noodles for my DH!! I wasn't having any extra carbs!! My photo does not even pretend to be good -- PLEASE make Deb's photo the default -- I thought that was a classically good photo! I had to use the artificial kitchen lights. I had to cut your recipe in half (we're only two!!) I also did not peel the sweet apple, and merely cut it into thin slices. I followed your instructions otherwise. It was a fantastic side dish, nicely sweet -- I probably also added more cinnamon than the recipe states -- love it!! A fantastic side dish which will be made often in my kitchen! And keep in mind -- I am mildly diabetic -- but this is right up my street. Great recipe, thanks, Mickey!!

  5. What a delightful new way to enjoy cabbage! As a rule we like our cabbage flavored with chilies, soy sauce and other such savory ingredients, but the apple and sugar really make this a delightful change of pace that was quickly gobbled up. Made one minor change in that I cut the butter in half and gave the top a quick spray with cooking spray to make up for the cut in butter. Will make again, thanks for the post.
