- 1 1⁄4 cups flour
- 3⁄4 cup cornmeal
- 1⁄4 cup sugar
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 4 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1⁄4 cup oil
- 4 egg whites
directions
- Grease a 8x8-inch pan, and preheat oven to 350°F.
- Mix all ingredients together till moistened.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes.

This was my first time making cornbread from scratch, and it was a total success! Thanks for the great recipe. I quintupled the recipe for our community group, and used 10 whole eggs instead of 20 egg whites. I also ran out of buttermilk so I added a little 1%. I made some into cupcakes and others into cake pans. Wonderful!1Reply
