Mom's Prune Kuchen

"Every fall, we looked forward to Mom making this family recipe with fresh Italian prunes. Canned prunes can also be used or any other canned fruit. It isn't a very sweet cake, but the powdered sugar drizzle adds just the right touch. Enjoy!"

Questions & Replies

  1. My aunt was describing to me the Kuchen her grandma made with prunes or apricots. I've been looking for a recipe the way she described and yours is the closest, only she used yeast as a raising agent. The other recipes sound more like a custard in a crust. Makes me wonder is your mother was from the same area. St. Edward, NE was where she was born but she later lived in Ogallala, NE?
