German Sweet/Sour Cucumber Salad

"This is a great side dish and very addictive (my Grandfather drank the sauce left after eating the kukes and now we all do that)! I love it for barbecues -- great with potato salad and burgers or chicken."

  1. Growing up in Pennsylvania I’ve been eating this exact recipe for my entire life. My grandmother made it, her grandmother made it. Heck everyone on that side of my family made it. And I’ve never had it anywhere outside of my family this way. It’s not very common, but it’s the only way I’ll have it! Finding this recipe here amazed me! I wish more people made it this way. I use Apple Cider Vinegar in mine as preference. And sometimes skip the onion altogether.
