- 3 medium onions, sliced
- 1 teaspoon garlic, minced
- 3 tablespoons white vinegar
- 3 tablespoons honey
- 6 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 3 tablespoons oil
- 2 large beef bouillon cubes
- 1⁄2 teaspoon salt
- 1⁄3 teaspoon dry mustard
- 1 1 teaspoon rosemary or 1 teaspoon thyme
- 156 millilitres tomato paste
directions
- Preheat the oven to 325 degrees.
- Place ribs in the oven to brown while preparing the sauce.
- Cook sliced onions and garlic in oil until soft, not brown.
- Remove from heat.
- Blend tomato paste with vinegar and add to onions together with the herbs, honey and Worcestershire.
- Dissolve beef cubes in 2 cups boiling water.
- Add to onion mix.
- Add salt and dry mustard.
- Stir and simmer uncovered for 15 minutes.
- Pour excess fat from ribs.
- Add sauce mix to cover the ribs.
- Cook 35 to 45 minutes or until ribs are done.
- Baste frequently. Ribs should be covered at all times.

How many lbs. of spare ribs are used in this recipe, and how long are they cooked in the oven before draining grease and applying the sauce? How browned should they be before applying sauce? Are the ribs raised on a rack in a roasting pan? Do they need to be turned each time they are basted? It sounds like a tasty recipe, but a few more instructions would be helpful. Thanks.Replies 2
