Sweet & Sour Pork/Chicken

"this is from a cookbook i purchased while living in thailand. it is a very favorite of mine, both for flavor and as i usually have all the ingredients on hand. you can choose to use either chicken or pork. while it could be enjoyed as its own meal, i like to cook this along with my vegetarian delight and cashew chicken to really wow the family and friends."

  • Mix the sauce ingredients in a small skillet and heat to boiling. Reduce to a simmer, cook for 3 minutes and set aside. Heat a large skillet and add the oil, garlic and pork. Cook for 30 seconds and add the sauce. Heat to boiling, add the remaining ingredients, except the green onion and the cornstarch mixture, and cook for 2 minutes, stirring intermittently. Add the green onion then stir in enough cornstarch mixture to thicken the sauce to a medium thickness. Best when served with jasmine rice.
