If you are giving these as a gift (as I did), you have three easy options. 1) You can prepare them about 15 minutes before giving away so you don't have time to nibble through the batch; 2) You can guiltily make a second batch after devouring the first; or 3) You can follow Rita's advice and simply double the batch in the first place. The cardamom gives these a different spin on spiced nuts -- one which those less familiar with the intoxicating spice may not recognize.   1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. Butter large cookies sheets.
  3. Heat in a saucepan melted butter, water and sugar till sugar is dissolved, add spices and pecans stirring till well coated about 3-5 minutes.
  4. Transfer to cookie sheet and bake until golden about 10 minutes.
  5. Cool store in airtight containers.
