These cookies have been in my family for years. Christmas favorite.

Directions

  1. Cream butter and sugar. Add water and vanilla, mix well. Add flour and pecans, mix well. Chill for 2-3 hours.
  2. Shape into balls. Bake on ungreased cookie sheet at 325 degrees for about 20 minutes. Cool slightly; roll in powdered sugar.

Looking for a snowball or wedding cookie to round out my holiday trays when I chanced upon this recipe. Loved the use of pecans instead of the more common walnut or almond. Initally my dough was was a bit dry but after chilling it firmed up nicely. The cookies themselves were wonderful rich but light and delicate. They were a bit oilier other similar so I might use one tablespoon of butter.
