Not too peanut buttery but still very tasty. Don't know why but I have never made this with instant pudding. Someone try it and tell me how it works.

Very good and tasty ~ this is a keeper and I will definitely try some of the variations I noted below! Also, I don’t think I will try this with instant pudding since it doesn’t firm up like “cook & serve.” I think it would be very runny. I cooked the pudding and placed saran wrap directly on top of the pudding mix and threw it in the fridge to cool off. I kept it there overnight so that it would get very firm – “custard like.” Then in the morning, I mixed it up and poured it into the pie shell. I mixed and mixed and mixed the PB and sugar together and it never really formed into "peas". Broke up the big pieces, but they were still pretty big. Next time I will form one big ball and grate it on my cheese grater using the big holes so that when you bite into the pie you get equal amounts of PB instead of a big chunk here and there. I had everyone at work rate this pie and it was unanimous (sp?). Everyone liked it, but they only gave it four stars. One person said she gave it four b/c it was too messy. Another guy said it was only a 4 b/c it wasn’t as good as “Better than Sex Cake.” A few people offered variations to this pie: (1) Use Banana Pudding or Chocolate Pudding, (2) Add sliced bananas to the vanilla pudding or on top of the pudding before the cool whip. (3) Melt chocolate and drizzle it over the whip cream(4) Add chocolate shavings to the bottom layer on top of the PB and then on top of the pie. Thanks Laurie for a wonderful dessert!
