ingredients
- 473.18 ml white vinegar
- 59.14 ml sugar
- 118.29 ml brown sugar
- 14.79 ml Worcestershire sauce
- 14.79 ml lemon juice
- 7.39 ml salt
- 4.92 ml finely ground black pepper
- 4.92 ml finely ground red pepper
- 3.69 ml hot sauce (add more or less to your liking)
- 236.59 ml Heinz ketchup
directions
- Combine all ingredients, except ketchup, in stockpot and bring to boil – cover and reduce heat, stirring occasionally until sugar is dissolved. Then add ketchup, stir and remove from heat.

Oh Boy! Glad I reduced the vinegar by half for two reasons, one the finished product is vinegary still (and I like vinegar) and two it is waaaaaaay thin. I don't find any similarity in taste between it and Open Pit Original...maybe once it has had a chance to cool it may taste more like it. If so, and I make again, I will do a reduction after adding the ketchup. Deb
