ingredients
- 1 1⁄2 teaspoons nescafe instant coffee (or depending on taste as to how strong you like your coffee)
- 1⁄2 cup milk
- 1⁄2 cup water, plus a few drops for premixing
- 2 teaspoons sugar (or to taste)
- cinnamon (optional)
- drinking cocoa powder
directions
- Put the coffee powder and sugar in a coffee mug.
- Add a few drops of water (just enough to incorporate the coffee powder in to form a thick paste) Stir vigorously with a spoon and soon you will see that the coffe and sugar form a whitish shiny paste.
- Boil the milk and water together.
- (if you do not like milky coffee you can boil plain water (1 cup) and add a few drops of milk just to your taste straight into the mug) Pour this from a little height into the mug so that the coffee froths up.
- Sprinkle a little drinking chocolate on top for effect.
- You can sprinkle some cinnamon powder on top too if you like the flavour of cinnamon.

I liked the taste of the coffee as I was drinking it but I didn't like the aftertaste. I also couldn't get the milk to foam, even when I used the milk hand frother. I will keep doing what I have in the past, mixing the instant coffee with a little boiling water (so the coffee is more concentrated) and adding hot frothed milk to it afterwards. I will try adding the sugar and the coffee together first to make the paste. I am going to try out the other coffee recipes on this site.

First I made as the recipe was written (including sprinkling the cocoa powder and cinnamon on top), but the coffee tasted a bit too strong, and not sweet enough to my liking. Then I added 1 more teaspoon of sugar, and reheated the coffee a bit in the microwave; stirred well, and ended up topping the coffee with some Reddi Wip, and sprinkling a bit more of the cocoa powder over the whipped topping. And the coffee tasted so much better! By the way, the cocoa powder I used... was from a box of Land-O-Lakes Cocoa Classics "Chocolate Supreme" Hot Cocoa Mix, which I purchased a variety pack at Sam's Club.
