ingredients
- 29.58 ml butter
- 1 large onion, sliced, about 2 cups
- 9.85 ml light brown sugar
- 2.46 ml kosher salt
- 2.46 ml dry cajun seasoning (I used blacken seasoning)
- 680.38 g green beans
directions
- In skillet, melt 1 Tbsp butter over medium heat. Add onion; cook, stirring occasionally, until starting to brown, 7-10 minutes. Add sugar, salt, and Cajun seasoning. Reduce heat to medium-low; cook, stirring often, until onion is soft and golden brown, 5 minutes.
- Meanwhile, bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add green beans; cook until tender, 4-5 minutes. (Next time, I will cook longer as mine were not as done as I would have liked them.) Drain well, then add to onion with remaining 1 Tbsp butter. Cook, stirring, until heated through, 1 minute.

Just in case anyone has same question regarding substitute, I offer this. I'm answering my own question here!!! If Cajun spice is not available in your supermarket, or you simply don't have it at home make your own Cajun spice blend easily using common spices. Mix 1 tbsp. each of cumin and paprika, 2 tsp. each of garlic powder, onion powder and black pepper, and 1 tsp. each of dried thyme and sweet basil. To make it more spicy, add cayenne pepper. Blend all the spices together until it is a uniform color.

Well miracles do happen got my DM not only to eat green beans that were not cooked in soy (if it is salty she will eat it but not so good for her) but was also looking for seconds. I steamed my beans for 8 minutes and cooked as per recipe though scaled back for 3 but only used about 250 grams of beans instead of 380 recipe required but kept all the other ingredients as per recipe for 3. Thank you Karabea, made for I Recommend Tag Game and recommended by Boomette.

My name is Kara. I am 26 years old, and I live with my wonderful husband (we got married 7/14/09!!) and our 6 cats...I love cats, can you tell?!
I love to bake and have as far back as I can remember...I have been the official "cookie maker" for my family. As I have gotten older, I have discovered that I enjoy cooking all types of food. I learn a lot about things that I like, as I am often more willing to try new things if I make them in my own kitchen and know everything that goes into them.
I love cooking pasta dishes and finding new ways to prepare chicken. I also am a huge fan of crockpot cooking. I basically love to cook all different types of food...I try to not make the same thing two times in one month. I have learned a lot of my kitchen know-how from my mom, dad, and grandmother, who are all wonderful cooks.
I don't really have a favorite restaurant. I really like a restaurant close to where my dad lives called Milner's. Also, around town, I really like Chop House, Rafferty's, Aubrey's, P.F. Changs, and Mellow Mushroom.
