Questions & Replies

  1. I have fresh ginger (only). Will that work instead of ground gigner, which I assume is what is called for in the recipe although its not really specified. If I use fresh ginger, would I mince and still use a 1/2 tsp? - Signed a cooking novice!

  2. What is a good side for this? I'm going to try it tomorrow. Thanks!

  3. Did you use powdered ginger or grated ginger? I also assume you used the usual powdered cinnamon, right?

Reviews

  1. I was hesitant about the ingredient combo, but this is ridiculously good. I've been cooking salmon at 400 degrees, but this low & slow method is SO much better. It makes for perfectly moist but not undercooked fish every time. I make this about once a week now. I do use about half the soy sauce and am happy with the results.

  2. I added a garlic clove that I crushed with my garlic press to the other ingredients in a plastic bag, mixing all well. I marinated the salmon filets for about 15 minutes prior to baking them. Magnificent! Will do this again.

  3. I was afraid of the cinnamon in it, but I stuck to the recipe. I was out of ground ginger, but had bought two trays of California roll sushi from Giant Eagle and they always include lots of fresh ginger..so, I used that! It was fabulous! I was shocked with how moist and flavorful this was. I did finish mine with a 4 minute broil, too, skin side up, for that extra kick . Seriously, try this recipe. Easy, perfect and a way to have fish without that lemon-butter-dill standby.

  4. I used less soy sauce then the recipe states, so that it wouldn't be too salty. My salmon was fairly thick, so it took longer then the 25 minutes, which is fine. This is definitely an easy, no fail recipe, however, so I will add it to my cook book for future reference. Thank you.

  5. Fantastic recipe! I used a 1/2 sockeye fillet which I rubbed with sea salt then added the marinade just before hitting the oven. I withheld a small amount of the sauce to baste the fish with and switched to broil for the last 3-5 minutes. The savory aroma filled the house and the salmon was delicious! Added some buttered, garlic pasta and fresh veggies to complete the meal. This was a perfect quick fix dinner, thanks for sharing!!
