Debbies Green Beans
"This is the way I have always fixed my green beans. I am always asked to bring them for any pot luck. My mom always makes me make them for family gatherings. You can add potatoes to this for a variation."

ingredients
- 1 quart green beans (fresh canned or Hanover)
- 2 cups water
- 1 teaspoon garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons onions, minced
- 2 tablespoons bacon grease or 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1⁄2 teaspoon pepper
- 1 teaspoon sugar
directions
- Place all ingredients in 2 quart saucepan.
- Simmer covered, 30 minutes.

Delicious green beans!! So full of flavor. I used one can of french style green beens and then followed as written except I omitted the sugar and since I had cooked the bacon for the bacon grease (the only way to go) I crumbled the bacon up and sprinkled on top of the finished beans, yummy!!! Thanks for sharing the recipe. Made for Spring PAC 2010.

I have been cooking since I was able to reach the counter, cooking my first meal at the age of 10. My mother and grandmother taught me the southern ways. I don't measure much (neither did they) so if you try my recipes, take that into consideration.
