- 453.59 g pasta
- 85.04 g Canadian bacon, chopped
- 907.18 g medium shrimp, peeled and tails removed
- 14.79 ml onion powder or 14.79 ml minced onion
- 29.58 ml reduced-calorie stick margarine
- 44.37 ml all-purpose flour
- 473.18 ml fat-free chicken broth
- 118.29 ml white wine (optional)
- 1.23 ml crushed red pepper flakes (or more)
- 7.39 ml dried basil
- 14.79 ml garlic (or more)
- 4.92 ml dried rosemary
- 59.14 ml parmigiano, grated (I like to use slightly more to taste) (optional)
- 0.25 ml black pepper, to taste
directions
- Cook the pasta according to package directions, omitting any oil and salt. Drain and keep warm.
- While the pasta is cooking, in a large pan coated with nonstick cooking spray, saute the canadian bacon, shrimp and onion powder over medium heat until the shrimp begins to turn pink, about 4 minutes.
- While the shrimp is cooking, melt the margarine in a saucepan over medium heat. Add the flour and gradually stir in the chicken broth to make a white sauce. Cook until thickened and set aside.
- If the shrimp has formed a lot of liquid, drain.
- To the shrimp, add the wine if using, and cook 1 minute. Add the red pepper flakes, basil, garlic, rosemary, and the white sauce; cook 5 minutes until thickened.
- Toss with the cooked pasta.

I have one lil' girl who is 5 and another on the way (due in December). My hubby and I are pretty into fitness (weight lifting, rock climbing, etc). So as you will notice, I've got quite a few "protein" recipes. I love to bake. Cooking is okay but my real joy is baked goods (i.e., breads, pastas, cakes, cookies, etc). Not so conducive to the healthy lifestyle. But I like to say everything in moderation!!!
