  1. In large, heavy saucepan, melt butter with oil and sauté onions until tender.
  2. Add garlic and cook 2 minutes.
  3. Combine molasses, ketchup, vinegar, mustard, lemon juice and zest, soy sauce, paprika, and bourbon.
  4. Stir in onion mixture.
  5. Bring to boil and reduce heat. Simmer 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  6. Cool and refrigerate in covered container.
