When I was a teenager I substituted blueberries for apples one day in one of my mom's recipes because my younger brother was begging for something sweet...and we had no apples. This is his favorite dessert!

Ingredients Nutrition

  1. Toss blueberries with the lemon juice in an ungreased 1-1/2 quart casserole dish.
  2. Mix 1/2 cup brown sugar with 2 teaspoons cornstarch; stir into the blueberries.
  3. Mix oats, 1/2 cup flour, 1/2 cup brown sugar and salt together; cut in butter with a fork.
  4. Sprinkle over blueberries.
  5. Bake uncovered in 350° oven until topping is light brown and blueberries are bubbling, about 40 minutes.
  6. Serve warm with ice cream.

This was very good, I liked the topping and didn't think it was too sweet. I could've used more topping though, just because I am an oatmeal topping lover! We ate it warm with vanilla ice cream. I didn't have a lemon, so I used a fresh squeezed orange instead, and it was perfect.
