This recipe came out of my hometowns' Extension Homemakers Cookbook published in 1977. It's a favorite of mine and now my married daughter has made it a favorite for her family. If there are any left the next day, try eating them in a hoagie roll.....yummy. This recipe came from Mrs. Mary Frady of Cowee
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1⁄2 cup milk
- 1 cup crushed saltine
- 1 chopped onion
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 3 tablespoons sugar
- 2 tablespoons vinegar
- 1 cup catsup
- 1⁄2 cup water
- Mix first 4 ingredients and form into balls.
- Brown in pan on top of stove.
- Turn to brown.
- Combine sauce ingredients and pour over browned meat balls.
- Simmer 45 minutes on top of stove.
Snack Time Rolled around and no one wanted Turkey!!! I had the meat balls but not the sauce. So I used your sauce. Very good tasting sauce. I do not think I want any other now. Thank You...Hugs
We had these as an appetizer and they were great. They are simple - I always like simple - and very tasty. Thanks MedicineWoman.
These were excellent. I followed the recipe exactly. I froze half up for another meal. 1/2 the recipe fed 3 of us nicely. Thanks for posting this delicious recipe.
