  2. Hello, I cannot have any tomato products, so any idea what to use ( as a binder, I assume) in place to the tomato Puree?? Cheese maybe? I also have to curtail hot spices, but will serve a spicy salsa for hubby on the finished burrito. thanks.

  3. Do you freeze them whole? How do you prepare the frozen ones for eating?

  4. What is the diameter of the tortillas? This sounds sooooo good!

  1. Maybe I can help... To fold burritos: lay uncooked tortilla flat add about 2-3 Tablespoons of cooked filling meat in a long strip, keeping filling a good inch or two from edges, if desired also add some cheese, onions, jalapeno slices & salsa. fold sides of tortilla over about 1-2 inches just covering edges of filling strip, take the edge closest to you & filling fold over filling. then keeping snug , roll tortilla into a burrito. The edges you folded in first should be tucked in now keeping the filling from falling out. Secure folded edge of burrito with a toothpick. Heat skillet with about 1/2 inch of oil to about "300" degrees not smoking! lay burrito gently in skillet toothpick side down, fry to golden brown, gently turn over and repeat. (I use 2 wooden spoons) drain on paper towels. Hope this helps!

  2. If you have a George Forman Grill, put the finished burritos in heated grill for about a minute to make the tortilla crispy...without the greasy frying in oil. Really good.

  3. Delicious! Both my husband and I love these burritos. I use salsa instead of the tomato puree since I always have salsa on hand. The seasonings are perfect! I have made this many times, and I'm sure I will make it many more!

  4. Loved this recipe (my 6 year old did too!) I skipped dried corriander (only because I didn't have any on hand) and used 1/4 cup of pizza sauce that I had on hand in place of tomato puree. Added 1/2 cup of garden fresh diced zucchini. We made them up like tacos. I put all the sides into bowls on the table. Cilantro, avacado, sour cream, salsa, cheese, lettuce, black olives.

  5. incomplete recipe, tells nothing of how to roll & cook filled tortilla. bummer

Tweaks

  1. What size are tortillas? How do you grill the tortillas, before or after adding in toppings and do you brown them using butter or oil?

  2. hot skillet, then let a little oil get hot. add spices. when they are fragrant, add the ground meat. When the meat is cooked, add the beans and mix thoroughly. now, this is ready to add to warm tortillas. let the guests add the remaining ingredients.

  3. Yummy! These were delicious! I used 1/4 cup taco sauce instead of tomato puree, based on another review. I used 1.5 lbs ground beef, so I increased the seasonings a bit. I also accidentally forgot to put the onion in (oops!), but it was delicious even without it. After putting the burritos together, I baked them in a 375 degree oven for about 15 minutes. These were just great! My husband and his best friend both loved these as well. Thank you for posting, I will definitely make these again!

  4. I love these! The first time I made them I used ground turkey instead of beef (ground turkey is cheaper for me to buy) and omitted the coriander and tomato puree because I didn't have them. They turned out so delicious that way that I make them like that every time. Someday I will have to try them exactly as the recipe says but until then I'm very satisfied with the way these turn out.
