Sugar Cookies

"If you're in a hurry, form the dough into rolls (instead of rolling it out and cutting with a cookie cutter), refrigerate it, then slice thinly and cook for less time than the recipe calls for. Decorate as desired. This recipe came from my Home Ec class many years ago."

directions

  • Cream sugar and butter, then add egg and vanilla and beat well.
  • Sift together dry ingredients and add to butter mixture and mix well.
  • Roll 1/8-inch thick on floured surface, then cut into desired shapes and decorate as desired.
  • Original recipe says to bake on ungreased baking sheet for 12 minutes at 375°F.
  • Time will vary depending on your oven. I could bake them 12 minutes in my old oven, but in my new oven I only bake them 9 or 10 minutes.

Reviews

  1. Me and my friend made them and we had to add 2/4 cup of water

  2. Not quite as sweet as I was expecting, but that turned out to be perfect. I use these to dip in my morning tea if I'm in the mood to snack rather than have a proper breakfast.

  3. I forgot to turn the oven on! And I "baked" them for 12 minutes like I was told, and they sagged in!<br/>I re-maid the batter, and turned out great!

  4. Delicious. Turned out a bit less sweet than I had hoped for, but it was still great! :)

  5. We loved em. My husband said they were the best sugar cookies he ever had. I wont be looking around for any other sugar cookie recipes! Thanks!
