Pasta With Butter and Cheese

"Makaronada voutirou. A simple pasta recipe. The quality and taste of the butter plays essential role to the taste of the spaghetti. Thick macaroni can be used instead of spaghetti. Ideal cheeses to use are Kefalotyri, Mitzythra or Parmesan."

  • Bring water into boil and add salt and oil.
  • Put in the pasta. Stir well and cook until tender.
  • Drain well in a colander.
  • Melt butter into the pan, place back the pasta and toss well.
  • Pour grated cheese on top.

  1. I grew up in my Italian family eating this with high-quality Parmesan cheese instead of macaroni and cheese (with the processed orange sauce - yuck!) The only difference is that we don't put oil in the water, and we add about 1/8 c of the boiling pasta water to each serving bowl - this means using the water that the pasta is already cooking in, just before it is done. We use any kind of pasta, usually something fun that the kids like. This is our back-up meal when I'm too lazy/tired/busy to make something more because we always have all the ingredients on hand to make this. My kids could eat this every day. Thanks for putting it out there!
