- 5 apples, diced in large pieces
- 5 tablespoons sugar
- 2 teaspoons cinnamon

- 3 cups unsifted flour
- 2 cups sugar
- 3 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup oil
- 1⁄2 cup orange juice
- 2 1⁄2 teaspoons vanilla
directions
- Filling: Mix apple pieces, sugar and cinnamon.
- Cake: Add wet ingredients.
- Add dry ingredients to wet.
- Batter will be thick.
- Grease and flour a 10 inch tube pan Add half the batter to pan.
- Add half the apples.
- Add the other half of batter and top with the apples.
- Bake at 350F for 1 ½ hours.

This recipe is great and much loved in my family. Though I personally like to reduce or even half the sugar, it was extremely sweet the first time I made it! But that also might be because I'm from Europe as I've heard that American cakes are more sweet in general. All in all I certainly do recommend this recipe if you have some spare apples laying around and are feeling like cake :)
