So this is the first time I have tried this recipe. When I first read the recipe I thought it was really strange that there are no eggs needed and also that there is so much baking powder. I also was not sure how in the world pouring hot water over top would make it turn out ok. I ran into a problem of not having quite enough powdered cocoa, so I substituted some liquid cocoa instead for the last part you put on top of the batter. I don't know if this will totally mess up the recipe but it's halfway through cooking and looks really bad its very soupy and all the water has sunken to the bottom, is this how it is supposed to bake? It just overflowed and is just soup really really soupy this is NOT right.

i LOVE this recipe. I found it was a bit too sweet so I just decrease the sugars a bit and it's perfect. I also make it vegan by substituting the milk with coconut or soy milk and it turns out awesome. I also replace the brown sugar with maple or coconut sugar and used coconut oil for the "oil" part just to try making it a bit healthier. I've also used whole wheat flour instead of white or all purpose and it turns out perfectly each time no matter what. So much room for error! Thank you for this recipe!!!!!!!!!!
