Coffee Marinated Steak

"This has been a family favorite for some time now. Seems to have just sort of evolved. Has an interesting flavor, just a bit different. It is my first posting of a recipe on Recipezaar."

This was excellent. Great tasting marinade for the small filets that we had. Turned out very juicy and very, very tender. Thanks for a great recipe. Made for PAC Fall 2012

This recipe is delicious! I used venison steak and Elk roundsteak and marinated it overnight. It is a great recipe for people who dont like venison - but have a freezer full of it! You would never know you were eating venison.

Made this for dinner last night and it was a great hit at our house!!! I chose this recipe for the photo forum challenge for March, which is coffee recipes. I didn't add the rosemary and used onion instead of shallot, but otherwise followed recipe. I used a top sirloin, marinated it for 3-4 hours in the refrigerator and then took it out for about an hour to finish marinading and come to room temperature. I then cooked it along with a kebob of onions and red peppers on the grill. This was so tasty and the 1 1/2 lb of sirloin was gone in no time. Next time I will probably add even more coffee!!! Thanks Grannydragon for a great new steak marinade.

Tasty indeed. I marinated a chuck roast, then slow cooked it in the oven. It was very tasty and tender. I used the drippings in gravy and that was great too. I can hardly wait to try this with on a steak and grill it.

For your first posting you have it!Very good recipe. I did cut the olive oil and used 1 tblsp., added a little more coffee, eliminated the salt and used 1 tblsp minced cut garlic. I also slowly heated the marinate to get the flavors to blend, then cooled and placed the steaks in the bag. I will make again. I am a great believer in vinegar and coffee for marinates.
