  • Preheat the oven to 325F or 170°C Wash, halve and remove the pit from the plums. Place plums in a shallow, ovenproof dish, sprinkle them with 50g/2oz of the sugar and 1 teasp of the cinnamon.
  • In a small mixing bowl combine the flour and remaining cinnamon. With a fork or clean fingertips, cut in or rub together the butter into the flour and cinnamon mixture until it resembles fine breadcrumbs. Stir in the oats and remaining sugar, spoon the mixture lightly over the plums and smooth over the top.
  • Bake for approximately 40 minutes, or until the crumble topping is crispy and golden brown, the plums tender.

  1. Needed to use up a whole tub of plums, and this recipe was perfect for it. At first my topping mixture didn't want to crumble, presumably because I use wholemeal flour, which is not as fine as plain flour. So I just added more dry ingredients until I had the right texture. Ended up with around 150g of oats, and 120g of wholemeal flour. Turned out great. Hubby ate it and he doesn't even usually like dessert!

  2. My topping didn't crumble, but that was my fault for "melting" the margarine. Had to convert to measurements I could understand in the kitchen but all in all tasted great. Family devoured it.

  3. Yummy! My daughter really loved this recipe, she was saying "delicious desert mum". I'm not a sweet tooth, so I don't make deserts but Little Miss (DD) loves anything with sugar and she thought this was a BIG treat. The only change I would make if I make this again is double the plum part, I found the plum shrunk heaps and there was more crumble mixture then plum mixture. However the flavour and texture was yummy. Thanks for posting your recipe Lauralie41

  4. Crumble is something I could eat 3 meals a day and this one is no exception - I added a couple of 'old' apples and had a wonderful result. Made for ZWT 5 - thanks !

  5. A delicious classic crumble recipe which I made for my parents and I whilst staying with them in England! I used Victoria Plums for a full plum flavour and jumbo oats for a nutty topping. My plums were quite tart, so I added extra sugar. Made for the Photo Swap 2008 - thanks Lori! FT:-)
