Since my bananas were SO ripe (almost liquified!) I choose to use 1Tbs less sugar. It was still sweet enough for us (I tend not to like overly sweet food).

Had VERY ripe bananas so decided I was going to bake a banana bread. Instead of my regular recipe, I thought one with chocolate would taste great. I'm so glad I found this recipe! It was very easy to make, with my normally on-hand ingredients, and it so delicious! Very moist with subtle taste of both banana and chocolate. I will definitely bake this again!

Thank you for a great recipe! Although I am an experienced baker, especially with breads, a good chocolate banana bread seemed to elude me. Until I tried this recipe that is! I don't think I left it to bake the full hour this time but will next time as I think it was just a tiny bit underdone -- but I also have a new stove so am trying to get used to the subtle differences between it and my old oven. This was a nice balance of flavors between the chocolate and banana.

This really fabulous. I used regular cocoa so it has a light chocolate taste, but not so much you can't have this as a breakfast treat. I ran out of butter so I used 1/2 stick of butter and 1/2 cup of solidified coconut oil. I cut back the sugar by about 2 tbsp and used whole wheat flour. Baked for 55 minutes in a loaf pan and it is fabulous warm. Can't wait to try it tomorrow as other reviewers say it gets even more moist overnight.
