I wanted a vanilla ice cream that tasted like the homemade ice cream Dad used to make. It is easy and tasted, there is hardly ever any left over for the next night.
- 2 eggs
- 3⁄4 cup sugar
- 2 1⁄2 cups half-and-half
- 1⁄2 cup heavy whipping cream
- 1 teaspoon vanilla (I use Mexican Vanilla for extra flavor)
- Beat eggs and sugar, add milk slowly mixing it in well.
- Add vanilla, stir well.
- Pour the mixture into the ice cream maker. It makes about 1 1/2 quarts. This is a great recipe to add your favorite flavors to.
This makes very good smooth, rich ice cream. I decided to use it as a base for a light chocolate ice cream, and it came out very well. Thank you very much for sharing this recipe with us.
This is so easy and delightful. It got me using my ice cream maker again - no heating of ingredients means it goes a lot faster and actually gets made. Thank you so much for sharing.
