Tamale Sauce

"This is my MIL's recipe. I eat the tamales just to get the sauce! It is so simple and so good. I like it best served room temperature. And its best to let it sit a little before serving for the flavors to blend."

  1. Used an immersion blender to get a good mix on this and it was enjoyed and inhaled by all. Subbed in a chipotle for the pickled pepper for smoky goodness. Amazing recipe and one for the permanent file. THANK YOU FOR SHARING! Oh, and we did have 200 tamales, so it was just enough for us!

  2. I've been making this for ten years. I can't believe I never reviewed it. This sauce is fabulous. I use it for tamales. I use it for enchiladas. I use it for wet burritos. Sometimes we use it on nachos. It's easy and great.

  3. Very, very good-but it made enough for 200 tamales! Next time, i will try to cut it down. Thanks for a tasty sauce!

OK lets see...My name is Diane and I'm married to a wonderful guy -- going on 20 years. We have 2 kids -- 1 daughter and 1 son a 70lb german shepard, a fat cat and a very snobby cat! I work a couple of days a week in the Loop and the rest of my time is spent sitting at the kids sporting events. I love to try new recipes. Luckily, hubby will try just about anything. The kids aren't so eager about that, but are generally very good sports about it!
