This is from a book of old pioneer recipes
- 6 cups red cabbage, shredded
- 3 tablespoons butter, melted
- 1 tart apple, chopped
- 6 whole cloves
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1⁄4 cup sugar
- 1⁄4 cup water
- 3 tablespoons vinegar
- Combine all ingredients, except the vinegar.
- Pour into a buttered casserole dish.
- Bake in a 325 degree oven for 30 to 40 minutes, or until cabbage is tender.
- Sprinkle vinegar over cabbage immediately upon removing dish from oven.
