  • Heat oven to 425.
  • Cut shortening into flour, sugar,baking powder, and salt.
  • Add enough milk to make dough.
  • Pat into greased 8" round pan.
  • Bake 15 minutes.
  • Cut into 8 wedges.

  1. This turned out a light, crumbly biscuit that went very well with strawberries and cream. Easy, peasy and yummy.
     
  2. Just what I was looking for. I didn't have a clean 1/3rd cup so used 1/4 cup shortning and for flavor added a heaping Tbs of butter. Just the right amount of sweetness. I may try rolling them out to make individual cakes in the future - realizing there will be more of a chance of the dough getting tough if I do so.
     
  3. whipped it up in the food processor and had it in the oven in less than 2 minutes. I served it with berries that I had frozen from the summer. Perfect dessert. The shortcake was good later just plain as a snack as I was cleaning up the kitchen!!
