Sesame Baked Chicken

"This is from an old New York Times Natural Foods cookbook. It was my first husband's favorite meal. Don't have the husband anymore, but I kept the recipe! I usually double or triple the amount of sesame seeds."

  • Preheat oven to 350�°F.
  • Mix egg and milk together.
  • Combine flour, baking soda, salt, paprika, and sesame seeds in a paper bag (recipe was written before "Ziploc" bags -- you can use either).
  • Dip chicken pieces in egg mixture, then shake in bag.
  • Place pieces skin side up on a baking sheet.
  • Drizzle melted butter over chicken pieces.
  • Bake about 1 hour, until done.

  2. I used to own the original cookbook (paperback) this was printed in -- The NYT Natural Foods Cookbook (purchased ca. 1973). This recipe has been a family favorite over the years. My cookbook finally started falling apart, but the page that this recipe was on is one of the few I saved before I consigned the rest of the cookbook to the recycling bin.

One of my earliest memories of cooking is helping my dad make egg rolls from scratch. I make a mean Peking Duck, too. <br>Got a husband, two kids, two dogs, two cats. We used to have two birds, but we've recently moved and didn't think they'd survive the trip. <br>I don't have a favorite cookbook, but I go through phases. I guess Joy of Cooking is the best for basic everything, and I'm very partial to The Gefilte Variations. Not only are the recipes fairly yummy, but the stories she tells are really delightful. <br><img src=http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b399/susied214/permanent%20collection/adoptedspring08.jpg> <br> <br>
