  • Cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy, then beat in the egg, milk and vanilla until everything is combined.
  • Put all the dry ingredients into the a mixing bowl and stir to distribute.
  • Add the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients a little at a time, stirring in between additions until a sticky dough forms. Add a few drops of red colouring here and mix well to distribute.
  • Cover the dough with foil and chill for at least 1hour. Then scoop out equal sized balls, roll them in icing sugar and put onto a lined baking tray. Gently squash the dough balls with the heel of your hand or the bottom of a glass so they spread out a little.
  • Bake for 10 minutes at 180C, then cool completely on a wire rack.
