Pork in Cider Sauce

- 453.59 g boneless pork, cut into bite size strips
- 14.79 ml cooking oil
- 118.29 ml apple cider
- 59.14 ml onion, chopped
- 19.71 ml cornstarch
- 14.79 ml brown sugar
- 2.46 ml salt
- 1.23 ml cinnamon, ground
- 118.29 ml apple cider
- 29.58 ml vinegar
- 1 medium apple, peeled, cored and coarsely chopped
- 236.59 ml rice, cooked, hot or 236.59 ml chow mein noodles, cooked
directions
- In large saucepan or Dutch oven brown pork strips in hot oil. Drain off fat.
- Add the first 1/2 cup cider and the onion. Bring to boiling.
- Reduce heat; cover and simmer about 40 minutes or until meat is tender.
- In bowl, combine cornstarch, brown sugar, salt and cinnamon.
- Blend in the remaining 1/2 cup cider and the vinegar.
- Add to pork mixture along with apple. Cook and stir until mixture is thickened and bubbly.
- Cook and stir 2 minutes more. Serve pork mixture over hot cooked rice or ward chow mein noodles.
- Enjoy - it is a really nice change. Even the 3 and 5 year olds liked it! Margo
