  • In a small saucepan, combine sugar, water and orange zest.
  • Bring to a boil, stirring until sugar is dissolved; reduce heat and simmer for 1 minute.
  • Remove from heat and cover; set aside to steep for 5 minutes.
  • Strain through sieve into a large measuring cup.
  • Stir in orange juice.
  • Pour into molds and freeze until slushy, then insert sticks and freeze until solid, for at least 4 hours.
  • If you are using an ice pop kit, follow the manufacturer’s instructions.
