A SOUPER SOUP thanks ElaineAnn! We enjoyed this for dinner with crusty rolls................I made it as posted with chopped bacon instead of ham - a wonderful hearty soup. Made for the Scandi tag events in KK's forum. Merci ElaineAnn!

Ingredients Nutrition

  • 1 lb yellow split peas
  • 12 cup ham, finely chopped
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon thyme
  • 10 cups water
  • 2 cups potatoes, diced
  • 2 cups rutabagas, diced
  • 2 cups celery root, diced
  • 1 12 cups leeks, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon salt

Directions

  1. Combine peas, ham, onion, thyme and water in a large Dutch oven and simmer for 1 1/2 to 2 hours.
  2. Add potatoes, rutabaga, celery root, leek and salt. and cook for another 30 to 45 minutes.
