  • In saucepan combine sugar, cocoa, milk and margarine.
  • Stirring constantly, bring to a full boil, and boil for 1 minute.
  • Remove from heat.
  • Stir in peanut butter until peanut butter is completely melted and add vanilla.
  • Stir in oats.
  • Quickly, drop by spoonfuls on wax paper.
  • Allow to cool.
  • Enjoy!

  1. Great cookies - easy to make, quick and taste terrific. I had to use soy milk and it worked just fine. I didn't count how many cookies it made, but there were plenty that were about 2" long shaped like "elephant toes". Thanks for posting this, Darla. I'm sending them off with hubby on his road trip - too much of a temptation for me to keep in the house.

I have been looking for the recipe for a long time now....as a kid we called them elephant toes and we rolled them in powderd sugar..........my adult boys were asking me about them a few months ago....thanks for sharing! I used Herseys Special Dark Cocoa powder and I am telling you it is fantastic!!!! I also adjusted the cooking time to 3 mins and added about 1/2 cup more oats :)

<p>I've been married for 28 years and have lived in Oklahoma &amp; Texas&nbsp; my whole life.&nbsp;&nbsp;My DH and I have 4 kids. Our youngest daugther is 28 and our oldest son is 36.&nbsp;&nbsp;We also have&nbsp;7 beautiful grandchildren and one on the way.
