ingredients
- 1 (16 ounce) bag lentils
- 4 celery ribs, chopped
- 1⁄2 large onion, chopped
- 1⁄2 teaspoon garlic, chopped
- 2 -3 fresh pork hocks
- 1⁄2 cup brown sugar
directions
- Combine all but brown sugar after adding cold water to cover. Simemr about 2 hours. After simmering, add your brown sugar. If it does not taste sweet enouph to you add a little more brown sugar. Remove hocks, cool, take off meat and add to soup.

DH and I have just over the last year or so been introduced to lentils and we love them. This recipe is great and so easy to prepare. I think DH has eaten the majority of this soup and saying each time he gets some, This stuff is good! LOL! The only thing I would do differently next time is to simmer the hocks for about 30 minutes or longer before adding the other ingredients, as my lentils got a little mushier than I would like. This is a keeper! Thanks Clndytc!
