Miso Soup

"This is a basic miso soup recipe from my Grandfather. Many different leftover items can be added; tofu, eggs, vegetables, cooked chicken or pork, somen/soba, or rice. The recipe calls for Ajinomoto (monosodium glutamate), I usually leave it out. I remember my Grandfather only using a dash of MSG, if you'd like to add it."

  4. Very good. I halved the recipe again, ie 9 cups water. I only used 3 TBL miso paste, and 1 scallion (mine were big). I added a torn up sheet of nori and a tiny bit of grated carrot.

  5. I completely agree with Picholine's assessment of this recipe. Simple and Perfect! I used red miso and DH raved! He said it was the best miso he's ever had, and we eat A LOT of miso at sushi joints! Thankyou so much for a fantastic recipe!
