Very very ordinary. I halved the recipe amount of onions, but it was still basically an onion sauce with tomato. The directions don't mentioned the basil - I added it with the other spices.

  1. Cut the beef into 1 inch cubes and brown in hot oil on all sides. Lift out and set aside.
  2. Saute the onions and garlic in the pan until soft, add tomatoes, tomato paste, wine, bay lead, cloves, sugar, saly and pepper, return the beef to the pan and cover.
  3. Simmer for 1 1/2 hours.
  4. Serve with the boiled spaghetti and sprinkle with grated cheese.
