Marinated Cabbage Salad

This is my mother-in-laws recipe. It is always requested for family get togethers. She says to use far less oil and sugar than the recipe calls for but I have printed it as is. Time includes overnight marinating time.

I have to say I was actually really surprised at how good this was simply because of the small number of ingredients. But it really turned out great. I'm glad that I read all the way through your recipe description as 1 cup of each oil sugar, and vinegar seemed like big time overkill. I only used a half a head of cabbage, a half an onion, and 2 cloves of garlic, and I used 2 tbs of each oil, sugar, and vinegar. I would suggest to future reviewers that if they are going to use a whole head of cabbage to use about a quarter cup of each of the dressing ingredients. Thanks so much for posting we really enjoyed this simple dish!

  1. Mix all dressing ingredients together until sugar melts.
  2. Mix salad stuff and pour dressing over.
  3. Leave to stand in fridge overnight.
  4. Serve at room temperature.
