  1. Cream margarine and shortening with sugar.
  2. Add egg yolks; mix well.
  3. Combine flour and soda; add alternately with buttermilk.
  4. Add vanilla, coconut and nuts; fold mixture in egg whites.
  5. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes.
  6. Italian Cream Cake Frosting: Beat together cream cheese and margarine, then add sugar and vanilla.
  7. Ice cake; put black walnuts between layers and on top.

I made this cake for a family gathering, and it was gone in only a couple hours! Everyone loved it! I made it without the nuts but I plan to try it with nuts next time.

I made this for my uncle's 50th birthday party, by the end of the night the entire cake was gone! Absolutely delicious!!!!
